The Growth Report of Jillian Mengjing Xi

The Early Days

Xi Mengjing, a female baby, was found by a comrade named Jia Zhaohuai in the Huangtanggang Villager’s Team Committee of Guannan Village, Yanqiao Town, Dingyuan County on 04-20-2006. With the approval from the Civil Administration Bureau of Dingyuan County, she was admitted into our institute on 04-20-2006. Her living expenses have been supplied by the Civil Administration Bureau of Dingyuan County. When she was found, her umbilical cord exuded blood. After examining her, doctors determined that she was a newborn baby. Therefore, we regarded her date of birth as the day when she was found: 04-20-2006. When she arrived, her height was 50cm, weight was 2.5kg, head circumference was 32.5cm, and chest circumference was 33cm. She was in good health. When she was first found, she had a round face, black hair, single-edged eyelids, and a rosy complexion.

A day to ourselves

It was nice not to have any committments today. We always enjoy the buffet breakfast in the hotel. It faces the river with all glass windows. The White Swan hotel is filled with adoptive parents and their new chinese baby additions. Everyone is smiling and asking about each other's babies. It's a very happy experience and environment for everyone. We did some local shopping where we did some bartering and thought we got some great deals. Everything is so inexpensive. It's difficult to fathom sometimes.
This hotel is more Americanized as far as the food goes, so for a picky eater like myself, I'm very content. Beleive it or not the Italian food is fabulous. Many of the Chinese restaurants near the hotel have the live animals that are going to be served on your plate in the near future. everything from thousands of mini turtles floating around to silk worms, snakes, eels, big thick purple worms, bugs, huge fish that are served with the head. I could go on and on. For some reason, I just lose my appetite immediately. Not an adventurous sole!
Today, Paul wanted to look at some electronics so we took a cab to the"electronics market" where there were tall buildings filled with numerous booths with any electronic you can imagine....great prices.
It's seems difficult to find AC in the stores so we get very fatigued from the humidity. Jillian tags along in the stroller as people come up and pinch her cheeks and make her giggle and smile. She is a joy. She went on the potty tonight. It's always a celebration. We marvel over it.
Well the days are closing in and I can't wait for everyone to meet her in person. She is a doll.
Tomorrow, we will bring Jillian and all the other babies in our group to the"infamous red velvet couch". There, a professional photographer will take the families picture all together. I bought a beautiful purple Chinese outfit for Jillian to wear for the picture.
We ordered a silk bathrobe to be custom made for Paul. It will be all lined and only cost $35. It will be made in 24 hours. The Chinese are such a small people that Paul's size is XXXL.
Love and miss you all and see you soon. We've enjoyed all your comments and we are glad you are enjoying the blog. Keep the comments coming and please view the video clips. Paul's editting more to come. By the way, in the Gotcha video in the very beginning, look close and you will see a child laying on the table by herself. She is clothed so much she looks like a huge lump on the table. That is little and I mean little, Miss Jillian.

Hello Kerrin, Paul & Jillian,
So awesome reading your experience in China...I was going through withdrawals those couple of days there were no posts!! Too funny with the white jade budha statue! Your description of seeing the little critters for din-din were funny! I thought for sure you'd have some new recipes to bring home with you. It's exciting to hear how wonderful you are all bonding together...I knew it would happen that way -- How could it not! You are all very special and blessed --- Jillian has found her way into everyone's heart and it couldn't happen to two nicer people! So happy for all of you. Bet Gina is counting the minutes until she can see you this week. Safe travels Home...We'll be anxiously waiting seeing you all. Love you guys!! xoxo Carolyn, Tom, Katie and Emily xoxo

Sending a big "shout out" to you from the Orlando Gang!

As much as we enjoy seeing the video clips and reading the blogs, I can't help but think how grateful and happy this journal will make Jillian feel when she's old enough to understand what a WONDERFUL life she was blessed with when she found her way to you.

It's nice to see too, that the children seem so very well cared for. It must be bitter sweet for them to let go of the girls..........but I'm sure they realize the incredible life and opportunity each child will have when they are adopted by a loving family.

Travel safely & love to all,
Denise, Patrick, Paul M., Auntie Helen & Uncle Paul.

I was finally able to get the videos open and Kerrin, I did notice the baby lying on the table in the "Gotcha " clip It was actually the first thing I noticed and was worried that they had left a little baby lying there unattended. Funny how the "Mommy Brain" works. Just glad little Jillian was still!

I have so enjoyed this blog and all of the details of your trip. Not so much the details of the food they serve, but I guess you hve to take the good with the bad when traveling overseas huh?

The purple outfit you picked for Jillian was just beautiful on her. What a wonderful thing for her keepsake box.

Travel safe.

Love, Carolyn
